History/Overview
The Audi S5 Sportback is a sportier version of the compact four-door hatchback that starts out as the A5. The practical Sportback variant arrived along with this car’s current generation in 2018. What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
For 2021, the Audi S5 Sportback gains a few new standard features: lane departure warning; a new steering wheel; wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity; and a new rearview mirror with integrated toll transponder. Also, the Technik trim gains rear-seat USB charging.
Available Trims
Audi sells the S5 Sportback in Progressiv and Technik trim levels, which share a 3.0L turbo V6 engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and Quattro all-wheel drive.
Standard Features
On the outside the S5 Sportback wears 19-inch wheels, LED matrix headlights, passive keyless entry with hands-free tailgate, LED taillights, rain-sensing wipers, and heated/auto-dimming side mirrors.
Inside, you get a panoramic sunroof, split-folding rear seats, an integrated garage door remote, three-zone climate control, heated front seats, brushed aluminum trim, a heated steering wheel, Nappa leather upholstery, front-seat power lumbar with massage, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
Tech touches include a 10.1-inch infotainment display, a 10-speaker stereo, a digital gauge cluster, and navigation.
And the basic safety kit comprises city-speed collision detection with automatic braking, rear collision detection and mitigation, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, exit warning assist, automatic high beams, and tire pressure monitoring.
Technik trim brings laser light headlights, a top-view camera, a Bang & Olufsen stereo, headlight washers, power-folding side mirrors, rear-seat USB charging, ambient lighting, and upgraded LED taillights.
Key Options
Audi’s advanced driver assist suite adds adaptive cruise control, traffic congestion assist, active lane keeping assist, all-speed forward collision avoidance assist, traffic sign recognition, and hands-on detection.
You can also add stand-alone items like 20-inch wheels, dynamic steering, adaptive suspension, a head-up display, and carbon-fibre exterior trim.

Audi’s fuel consumption estimates for the S5 Sportback are 11.5/8.5 L/100 km (city/highway).
Competition
Audi’s closest competitors for the S5 Sportback are the BMW M440i Gran Coupe, Mercedes-AMG’s C 43 station wagon, and, at a lower price point, the Kia Stinger. Volkswagen’s Arteon comes in a similar body configuration but with more modest performance.
